Q:
At what age may a child enroll at Making Waves Swim
School?
A: Children must be 3 years or older and be completely potty
trained. Due to high health standards & regulations,
there are no exceptions.
Q: How long does it take to learn to swim?
A: This is possibly the most commonly asked question. Learning
to swim depends on many factors such as age, maturity, listening
ability, endurance and desire. Even knowing all of these
factors it would be difficult to say. For example, we’ve
seen two, four year olds having the same instructor, both
loving the water and willing to learn. It took one child
6 months to become independent in the water and the other
child 14 months. Unfortunately, there is no accurate way
to predict this information.
Q: Are practice sessions available?
A: Unfortunately due to insurance regulations and space
restrictions, we do not offer practice sessions at any of
our locations. For the same reason, participants must exit
the water as soon as their lesson is completed.
Q: How many kids are there in a class?
A: Although certain location restrictions apply, there may
be one or two people in a class at one time.
Q: How long are the lessons?
A: Typically lessons are 30 minutes long, one time per week.
For older, or more advanced participants, one hour classes
are often more beneficial.
Q: What happens if I miss a class?
A: Please refer to the Policy section
Q: What type of training do Making Waves Instructors
have?
A: Our staff is certified in: American Red Cross Lifeguard
Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and advanced
First Aid. Additional training sequences are given by Making
Waves management if needed.
Q: What times are lessons offered?
A: Our sessions are Available: seven days/week 9am - 10pm….WINTER:
January – March, SPRING: April – June SUMMER:
July – August FALL: September – December
Q: What temperature are the pools kept?
A: Pool temperatures are kept between 86 degrees and 90
degrees depending on the location.
Q: How do I cancel a class?
A: IF you need to cancel a class, please call the office
and leave a message at 609-818-0373 or email us at mwaves98@comcast.net.
Please do not call the hotel or contact your instructor.
Q: What do I need to bring to class?
A: Towels, change of clothes, goggles and swim cap(suggested,
but not required).
Q: What are the advantages to PRIVATE lessons?
A: When learning privately there are no distractions by
other swim mates. Also, you receive immediate constructive
critique, which allows mistakes to be corrected efficiently.
Additionally, students have the instructor’s undivided
attention for the entire lesson. One on one instruction
helps to promote a trusting relationship between instructor
and student. As a result, a child who feels safe and cared
about will be the most successful.
*Additional
training sequences are given by Making Waves management
if needed.
