Megan S - Female
I have loved the water since I was very young, but it didn’t start out so well. When I was 4, I went to swimming lessons where the teacher dunked me when I wasn’t ready. I quit lessons. The following summer I taught myself to swim. I overcame my fear and have been in the water ever since.
I have been teaching or assisting with lessons for 16 years. I received my Lifeguarding certificate at 15 and my Red Cross Water Safety Instructor at 16. I have taught many people in many settings. From young to old, beginner to advanced, in lakes and in pools. I also taught with an American Red Cross Adapted Aquatics program for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. Most recently I have been teaching at the Y.
I teach all my students as a mom, I think that helps them to feel more comfortable in the water and with me. I am proud to say that my 5 ½ year old son is a happy, floatie-free swimmer for almost two years. My goals for your swimmer would be the same as my son: to love the water and be able to swim and have fun while being safe. I look forward to hearing your goals and helping you and your swimmer achieve them!
