I started swimming when I was 2 years old and have been swimming ever since. My family took trips to the beach very often and I would spend hours swimming in the ocean. When I was younger, I would go to the local YMCA to take swim lessons or to swim laps. Now, I have been working at that very same place for over 3 and a half years teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding. I've been certified for lifeguarding and first aid by the American Red Cross for about 4 years and my certifications are up to date.
I am a student at Rider University studying education and plan on teaching elementary special ed. I love working with kids and really try hard to get them learn a lot in the water while giving them as much confidence as possible. I have had experience with large and small group lessons and private and semi-private (family/sibling lessons). Over the past 3 years, I have learned many different methods of teaching using all different equipment, exercises, and drills. If one method does not work for a particular student, I will change it according his or her learning style and personality until I find something that the student is comfortable with and that really works. I want to see everyone swimming across the pool on their own.
