Brady R - Female

After graduating from college, I was lucky enough to find a full time job. However, this meant for the first time in my entire life not spending every day at my town pool. My love for the water as a child led to ten years on the swim team which in turn led to eight full years of working as a lifeguard, swim instructor and swim team coach. Some teenagers might look at lifeguarding as simply a summer job. But for me it taught me how rewarding it was to teach someone something new and how much I loved spending my days with working with children. I still remember my hesitance as a young child to put my head under water. If it hadn't been for some very persistent and patient swim teachers, I might not be where I am today. The value and irony in that is not lost on me.

My passion and love for the water is something that I long to pass on to swimmers of all ages. I have over 1,000 hours of experience in teaching private and group lessons. I have taught people of all ages ranging from infants to adults with abilities on all different skill levels. My teaching experience varies from beginners to competitive swimmers, and from coaching a swim team to five years of experience teaching a Basic Water Rescue course that prepares teenagers for the lifeguard certification. I have had experience teaching children with learning disabilities such as ADHD, and Autism. My lessons will focus first and foremost on safety in and around the water. My experience with hundreds of children allows me to tailor my lessons to each person's strengths and interests. I have a B.S. in Environmental Policy from Rutgers University and I will be returning for my Masters in Social Work next fall and am currently serving as an AmeriCorps Service Member. Being given the chance to continue teaching swim lessons was a dream come true!
