Ben L - Male

Looking back on my childhood years, the first thing that pops into my mind is swimming. Growing up, my family and I would spend a large portion of the summer at my grandparent's lake house. Growing up on a lake, my father taught me how to swim at the early age of two. When it was time for my youngest brother to learn how to swim, I watched carefully how my Dad taught him, so I could teach my friends who didn't know how to swim. Excluding all the techniques he taught my brother, what it all came down to was trust. Without trust, you have nothing. Once I knew this secret, I convinced a few of my friends to allow me to teach them a thing or two about swimming.

I plan on using this technique to ease your child into the swimming process. Nothing is more frightening than a pool when a child does not feel comfortable even stepping foot into it. Once trust is established between your child and myself, swimming itself will be a breeze. I have worked at numerous camps over the years, and am currently a lifeguard and swim instructor. I work with children of all different levels; from those afraid to even go near a pool, to those who have already mastered every stroke. No matter your child's level of learning, I guarantee he/she will be a much better swimmer after each and every lesson with me. I also have a great deal of experience working with children that have special developmental needs.

I am currently a junior at Rutgers University majoring in accounting and finance. I am the treasurer and co-founder of an organization called the KO Team which raises awareness about HIV/AIDS on campus. I am also EMT certified and have more than two years of experience in the field. Back in high school, a friend and I started a business called Double Treble Cocktails. We are a piano-violin duo and perform at various functions including cocktail receptions, weddings, sweet sixteen's, Bar/Bat Mitzvah's and more.

In my opinion, swimming is one of those skills that everyone should learn. Of course, the earlier the better, but no matter what age I plan to tailor a program fit to him/her in order to facilitate the learning process. My lessons are here to learn and have fun, but above all, safety is my number one concern. I am both lifeguard certified and EMT certified. I look forward to meeting with you and starting to let you or your child MAKE SOME WAVES!
